Services for the Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ)
As the Authority Having Jurisdiction, you face the daily challenge of enforcing the codes for the benefit of the health, safety, and welfare of the people within your community. Like most code officials, you have probably run across situations where permit seekers submit applications that present challenges that are above and beyond the ordinary, such as:
- Unlisted Equipment
- Field Modified Equipment
- One-of-a-Kind Systems and Processes
- Alternative Materials, Methods, Equipment, and Appliances
The evaluation of such submittals can be an extra burden to the AHJ staff, and can involve topics that are outside of the normal areas of evaluation and approval.
RADCO is here to help you
RADCO Field Evaluation Services are provided to assist the AHJ in the enforcement of the appropriate national codes and standards, as well as the additional requirements of state and local codes for these unique installations.
These projects are conducted with full cooperation of the AHJ. It is standard practice for RADCO to contact the AHJ prior to start of the investigation in order to discuss the scope of work of the project, and to verify that all of the AHJ’s concerns relative to the equipment are being addressed.
Following the completion of the field evaluation, once all non-compliances are addressed by the applicant, RADCO issues a formal report describing the equipment and the test procedures that were used as part of the investigation. A copy of this report is made available to the AHJ. RADCO will also apply a field evaluation label to the product that was investigated.
